Working to meet the health and nutritional needs of women, children and families with information, education, and quality care, MFHS is currently seeking a full time Grant & Compliance Accountant for our Wilkes-Barre, PA location.
JOB SUMMARY The Grant and Compliance Accountant will be responsible for the monitoring of grant activity including budget revisions, matching, cost overruns, cost sharing and unallowable administrative expenses.
They will oversee all aspects of grants, private donations, and federal, state, and local funding sources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Prepare invoices and requests for payments to funding agencies and reconcile grant and donor expenses to funder reports.
Initiate, design, develop, and deliver training on grants fiscal management.
Prepares and submits all financial reporting for all funding sources including grants, private donations, and federal, state, and local funding sources.
Reconciles and prepares monthly and quarterly financial grant reports in accordance to generally accepted accounting principles.
Ensure all grant, private donations and funder fiscal requirements are completed timely and accurately and acts as the fiscal single point of contact for grant fiscal compliance.
Perform grant related tasks including creating budgets, monitoring, expense reports, variance analysis, and reconciliations.
Become familiar with all aspects of the programs overseen, including regulations and reporting requirements to funders, and ensuring all subrecipient regulations are complied with including receiving and reviewing audit reports.
Works with the operational leads to provide explanations and recommendations for variances from budget.
Provide support for the preparation of the organization's annual operating budget.
Responsible for the organization's debarment and suspension process against the Excluded Parties List System, and maintains a list of all the grants and funding that needs to be reported on the annual Schedule of Federal Expenditures.
Monitor all fiscal compliance of the organization's programs and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
2 years of fiscal grant management and administration is required.
Nonprofit experience preferred.
1 year of general employment preferred.
Ability to articulate clearly.
Advanced business writing skills for memos, emails, documents, and other materials.
Excellent verbal communication skills.
Solid understanding and experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Knowledge of charts, graphs, and table formatting.
Fundamentals of basic software and database programs to input and/or extract information.
