Perform routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. Perform instrument function checks and preventative maintenance procedures according to department's policies and procedures. Perform minor instrument repair as necessary.
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or meet grandfather requirements under CLIA'88 personnel requirements.
One (1) to two (2) years preferred. Precision and accuracy to perform Laboratory procedures. Keen judgment to evaluate information against measurable criteria in the performance of tests. Visual acuity to read instructions and examine specimens. Form perception and color discrimination to identify cells and micro-organisms. Manual dexterity to operate equipment. Assist the Section Supervisor in resolving equipment problems, oversees the teaching and evaluation of students and new employees and has expertise with specific Laboratory procedures or Laboratory instrumentation.
ASCP Registration or eligible.
