Safety Technician

The incumbent works closely with supervisors, union officials, and safety and occupational health committees to provide factual information on eliminating or controlling hazardous safety conditions in the workplace. Information discussed, recorded and filed during this work is often of a highly sensitive nature requiring special privacy and security precautions. The incumbent also performs nonsupervisory work in the following areas:
Inspecting:
Observing environmental conditions and employee performance patterns to identify hazards, detect risks, and determine causal relationships; developing abatement recommendations for safety and occupational health hazards Investigating:
Searching for clues, studying variables, questioning witnesses, and retracing sequences to uncover the sources of reported injuries and illnesses Recording:
Assuring the validity of data collected, accurate documentation of occurrences and data summaries, and maintenance of program information Analyzing:
Examination of available data to identify possible sources of losses experienced, determining critical factors prior to occurrence, and recommendation of alternative adjustments to eliminate or minimize losses from injuries and illnesses Reporting:
Defining terminology, writing summaries and preparing summary documentation related to safety and occupational health Administration:
Developing and maintaining multiple records and reports related to safety and occupational health compliance activities within the medical center. Provides administrative support to include development and management of correspondence, filing, The incumbent's work is also characterized by the need to develop and disseminate educational material and techniques. This requires a wide variety of continuing education and training designed to maintain current awareness of safety standards and regulations and the corresponding preventive procedures. Safety Technician/PD002670 To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/20/2020. Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:
Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
managing a variety of expendable items and durable medical equipment; forecasting short and long range inventory needs; analyzing inventory management reports and the effectiveness of various options proposed to provide supply support; utilizing automated inventory management systems to maintain current inventory data; researching and analyzing information to resolve questions and issues, and implementing federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and completed education beyond post-high school may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the GS-7 grade level. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
